Alex got a bike for his birthday five months ago and this is the first time we've been able to really test it out! He was very excited and was really good at it. Here are some pics. Other than that we've just been hanging out today - went to clean the church and was pleasantly surprised (actually I should have remembered) they didn't have Awana this week so it wasn't dirty at all and it took only half the time it usually does. We're looking forward to a weekend full of not a lot of anything important. If anyone wants to hang, we're available.
So the Awana year is over and last night was the awards ceremony. I'm pretty sure Alex has enjoyed being a Cubbie but he's not been ecstatic about it. Next year he'll be a Spark and Avril will be a Cubbie and I know she'll have a great time. Here's Alex singing the Cubbie song and accepting his ribbon for completing his book.
So here we are enjoying the local festivities, the only festival in the United States named after the sweet potato. If you look past the rebel flags and resin skulls with candles in them there are a few fun things to do. We went out with our friend Juliana and had a wonderful time riding ponies, petting farm animals, sliding and jumping. Here are a few pics of our adventures. While Juliana kept the animals at arms' length, Avril had a hard time keeping them alive. I think they all came out alright.
